All Rotary Clubs in the World have an identifying Rotary Club Banner. The banners are often exchanged with visiting Rotarians who may have brought a banner from their home club.
Ed Holtner travelled to Belgium on the Friendship Exchange. He brought banners from the Hinton Rotary club and presented them to the clubs that hosted him. In turn they presented him with their banner. Ed was fortunate to visit four clubs in Belgium:
Gent Prinsenhof (Ghent)
Ieper (Ypres)
Duiksmude-Westkust (De Panne)
Oostende (Ostend)
Jean DiCostanzo, Rotary Exchange student swaps banners Tim McLelland, President, Hinton Rotary Club.

Thank you, Cyara Dodge for your contribution of $US1000 to The Rotary Foundation, Rotary’s own charity and, therefore, every Rotarian’s own charity. Congratulations on becoming a Paul Harris Fellow, there are now over one million Paul Harris Fellows worldwide.
Every Rotarian should strive to be a Paul Harris Fellow because for each PHF named, we know that US$1000 has been given to The Rotary Foundation. Similarly, for each sapphire or ruby added to a Rotarian’s PHF pin, an additional US$1000 has been given to The Rotary Foundation. We should celebrate each of these milestones (and gem stones) for what they represent. That is, a gift to The Rotary Foundation and an opportunity to do even more good in the world through the Foundation.

On Wednesday, June 8th at 9 am at the Hinton Rec Center:
RBC employees thru their RBC DAY of SERVICE REWARD program led by Erik Benson presented $1,000 to both the Resident Care Foundation (represented by Lynda Johnson and Elaine Koch) and Hinton Food Bank (represented by Bernie Kreiner) The Resident Care Foundation`s mission is: Providing increased quality of life for seniors in the Hinton area. and the Hinton Food Bank`s mission is We are stewards in the collection and purchase of food for distribution to people in need in our Hinton community.
The Hinton Rotary Club represented by President Brian Laberge presented $1, 147.50 cheques to both the Resident Care Foundation and Hinton Food Bank from net proceeds of the Dale and Linda Currie Farewell event at the legion. The Rotary Club thanks the Hinton Legion and RBC for assisting with this very successful event.
From Erik at RBC Hinton: The RBC Day of Service Reward supports and recognizes teams of employees who respond to a one-time or short-term community need on their own time. Employees in groups of 3 or more, commit a minimum of 3 hours to a project or event for a charity of their choice. In 2015 Hinton RBC completed 5 events and donated $5,000. In 2016 we have completed 7 events, have 3 more to do, and will have donated a total of $10,000. Every single employee from the branch has volunteered their time to at least one event with most volunteering at several.

Rotary International and ShelterBox are project partners. Global support from the Rotary network is the cornerstone that ShelterBox is built on.
Rotary’s project partnership agreement with ShelterBox enables both of us to collaborate more closely to bring relief and temporary shelter to survivors of disasters worldwide. The project partnership builds on both of our strengths in responding to disasters all over the world.
The fundraising efforts by Rotarians make up a significant proportion of donations received by ShelterBox. Alongside this, Rotary Clubs provide invaluable logistical support to our field operations.

Dolly Parton, superstar songwriter, singer and actor, is also the founder of a nationwide virtual library: the Imagination Library.
Dolly Parton Imagination Library provides participating children from birth to 5 years old, with one free book every month. The books for each age are chosen by the Dolly Parton Imagination Library’s Book Committee with emphasis placed on imagination and inspiration. Rotary Hinton has teamed with the Hinton Municipal Library to bring this literacy program to the children of our area. In Hinton the program began in June 2015 and has already exceeded the estimated response.
